Buy-Back Process
MPS is extremely particular about the media we buy back for resale. We select libraries carefully, based on age, brand name, and knowledge of our customers and their storage methods. When you’ve been buying media for 30 years, you can afford to be choosy.
Erasing/Degaussing
Every cartridge that enters our facility is degaussed or erased, depending on whether the tape has a servo-track. We use our industrial-strength degaussers for complete erasure of data and other signals on standard tapes. Servo-track tapes are erased on our drives using time-tested, industry-proven software.
Cleaning
After being inspected, our cartridges are individually hand-cleaned using our proven methods. Exterior labels and adhesive are removed and each tape is brought to a “like new” exterior condition.
Testing Process
Our tapes are tested using our time-proven diagnostic software to ensure they meet or exceed new tape specifications. Our stringent testing process ensures our customers receive the high quality of media they deserve for their critical data.
Packaging
Tapes are inspected again prior to being labeled and/or initialized, if desired. They are then shrink wrapped and securely packaged for shipping.
